Adjustments of the spine and other skeletal structures is the basis for all of chiropractic medicine. These adjustments help to improve range of motion and to decrease pain and muscle spasms. There are several different ways chiropractors make these adjustments, Dr. Darcy uses an FDA-approved device called an activator to make most of the adjustments. This is a safer and more gentle method that does not have the risks that can be associated with some manual adjustments.
CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT
ULTRASOUND
Therapeutic ultrasound is used by chiropractors, physical therapists, and other health professionals to treat a variety of soft-tissue conditions, including: ligament sprains, tendinitis, muscle strains, joint inflammation, arthritis, and adhesions, among others. Much like an ultrasound during pregnancy, the treatment involves placing some gel on the skin followed by the application of the ultrasound transducer. By increasing blood flow, decreasing swelling (edema), and gently massaging the affected tissue, ultrasound reduces pain and speeds healing.
Electrical stimulation is used by chiropractors, physical therapists, and other medical providers to strengthen muscles, reduce muscle spasms, and increase range of motion. It works by delivering mild pulses of electricity to the muscles via electrodes on the skin. The treatment lasts about 15 minutes and is NOT painful!
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION
WEBSTER TECHNIQUE
LASER THERAPY
KINESIO-TAPING
Cold, or low level, laser therapy is used to relieve pain, stimulate healing, decrease inflammation, and increase circulation. The treatment lasts for up to five minutes. Warmth, and sometimes tingling, may be felt over the treatment area. The treatment is useful in relieving neck, back, and joint pain as well as tendinopathy and rheumatoid arthritis.
The Webster Technique is a specific set of adjustments designed to help ensure that the mother's pelvis and pelvic floor structures are not holding back the baby's normal turn from breech presentation to the head down position that usually occurs late in pregnancy. If your obstetrician has indicated that your baby is not turning as expected, adjustments using this technique may help.

BIOPUNCTURE
Biopuncture is a new treatment for chronic pain that was developed in Europe and is now available in the USA. A tiny needle is used to inject very small amounts of plant-based medications just under the skin or into the muscle. This reduces pain and inflammation in the affected area.

TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS
Trigger point injections are performed by chiropractors, medical doctors, and other health professionals to help relieve pain associated with areas of knotted muscle called "trigger points". The injection may contain a local anesthetic or saline, and in some cases, may simple be a dry injection. The injection relaxes the knot, which relieves the pain. Usually, a short course of treatment is all that is needed for long term relief.
Kinesio taping is a method for supporting injured joints while maintaining a normal range of motion that was initially developed in Japan for the use of Olympic and professional athletes. It is an elastic, adhesive tape that is applied to the effected area and can be worn for several days. The kinesio tape helps to support the injured joint and to reduce swelling, helping to speed healing, without limiting movement the way traditional immobilization would.
